Sr. GIS Architect

The Senior Technical Architect (GIS) is responsible for establishing current and long-range direction of our GIS capabilities and technologies. This position will aim at keeping the organization at the forefront of recording, analyzing, and visualizing spatial location information to reveal deep insights into the data and enable smarter more informed decisions. This position will focus on GIS architecture activities that support and enable us to deliver strategic outcomes.


 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, develop, refine, optimize, and support the enterprise GIS architecture and tools as required to meet the business requirements of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise GIS strategy and architecture blueprint for the organization, overseeing the use of best practices for electric and gas modeling, data, integration, mapping, and analytics.
  • Provide technical direction to team members and is a key contributor. Ability to solve highly technical complex problems and be called on to consult on projects.
  • Develop guidance for incorporating GIS technology into solutions, including defined standards, reference architectures, solution guidelines and metrics.
  • Define patterns and building blocks that leverage domain technologies incorporating domain and industry best practices.
  • Stays abreast of GIS domain technologies understanding the trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable evolving business needs.
  • Develops roadmaps incorporating industry best practices and gains support/approval from stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Provides technical review reports with recommendations to the leadership team. Reviews technical project requests for large business line technology projects.
    Performs system wide / cross functional team management on projects to evaluate, design and implement new technology systems.
  • Lead team members and provide work guidance to meet project objectives and assure timeliness, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Mentor and collaborate with various subject matter experts to develop technology architecture that enables and drives new business capabilities operating models.
  • Evangelizes the use of the client's GIS capabilities and infuses GIS innovation into our culture.
  • Support other Digital projects as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics, or equivalent computer related degree from an accredited college or university required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years of IT experience, with at least 3 years of GIS and architecture experience.
  • Specifically, demonstrated experience with the following:
    Architecture and delivery experience with ESRI Network models.
  • Strong foundation and experience in mobile products such as Click Mobile, Epoch Field with ArcFM Viewer experience being a plus
  • Experience in both ArcGIS online and GIS Portal
  • Development experience in ArcGIS REST API, web services (i.e. JSON, REST, SOAP), Oracle Spatial and Graph, and integration technologies (e.g. Mulesoft Integration Platform)
  • Knowledge of data management and interoperability best practices
    Good understanding of design patterns and object-oriented analysis and design
  • Advanced understanding of modeling/diagramming tools and communicating architecture artifacts to stakeholders.
  • Experience in Electric and Gas utility and connected network preferred
