Overall Assignment Description:
These Systems Engineers will be part of Research’s Technology Transition team, and will support the Government by assisting or leading technology transition activities for Research capabilities. They will support the planning, documentation, testing, accreditation and implementation for the integration of Research capabilities into operational systems and/or environments. They will collaborate with engineers or owners of the operational system to coordinate transition details and understand resulting system impacts. Duties include:
Assist the government in performing the technical planning, documentation and execution related to the transition of Research technologies to an operational environment. This could include systems integration, V&V, risk analysis, supportability analysis, design or requirements generation activities and topics.
Provide subject matter expertise in systems engineering and integration principles to R&D projects to ensure appropriate transition planning in project definition and execution
Prepare reports or briefings in support of transition data calls
Perform issue resolution during transition efforts
Assist Government PM in testing and evaluating capabilities to determine transition readiness
Coordinate with required system developers, security and IT offices and generate documentation to obtain appropriate security accreditations for transition to operational environments
Interface and collaborate with engineers and/or capability owners to understand the targeted operational environment and/or system for integration and determine potential system modifications needed for transition
Coordinate transition engagement meetings with NGA IPO (s) and mission offices
Develop and/or review system transition documentation for accuracy and completeness. Coordinate needed changes with appropriate program, segment, and project offices.
Schedule reoccurring meetings to address the requirement to mitigate risk associated with critical paths and process development where appropriate for Technology Transitions
Skills and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related STEM degree program, or equivalent Expert level work experience as a Systems Engineer or Integrator.
Senior-level systems engineering work experience, which includes:
Integrating software capabilities into DOD/IC System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
Supporting DOD/IC research and development activities
Experience with government system security and accreditation processes
Understanding of deploying solutions into cloud computing environments
Desired: The following are desired skills and experiences that would further enhance the performers contribution to the position as described above:
Mid-level knowledge of technical disciplines underlying GEOINT capabilities
Mid-level knowledge of the GEOINT mission and NSG partners
Mid-level knowledge of algorithm development and governance
