Quality Engineer II - Software Configuration Management

The Client is a recognized leader in the design and integration of complex technologies into new and legacy systems and platforms for global military and commercial customers. We are a 3 year running Top Workplace in the Greater St. Louis area.  

Job Summary

Client is seeking a full time Quality Engineer II - Software Configuration Management.  This position is responsible for supporting Software quality during product development and implementation of improvements.  They will develop, maintain, and deploy Software Quality Plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activities.   This position must be able to work independently and provide technical training and mentorship to lower-level engineers, technicians, and inspectors.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for Software quality system development and supporting product Software quality improvements

• Develop, maintain, and deploy Software quality plans & activities that translate customer requirements into planned activities

• Provide input into the existing Software CM processes and provide updates as needed

• Instill best practice methods, procedures, and controls

• Maintain and perform versioning and baseline control

• Perform internal and/or external PCA and FCA of baselined and released code

• Document CCB meeting minutes, when needed

• Work independently and provide technical training and mentorship to lower-level engineers, technicians, and inspectors

• Perform analyses of program requirements and prepares responsive Software quality plans, procedures, schedules, and resource allocations to assure optimum quality support

• Review and approve engineering, test and contractor documentation and provide input to assure that appropriate Software quality requirements are addressed

• Provide ongoing Software quality system support to include performing internal audits, ensuring implementation of peer reviews, adherence to Software Configuration Management processes, and root cause corrective actions

• Lead Software product quality improvement teams and participate in Failure Review Boards

• Provide technical support for Software build and compilation, Test, and inspection of completed executables

• Review technical documentation and specifications for completion and adherence to customer requirements

• Lead in resolving customer quality issues and driving root cause and corrective action on process and product quality issues

• Assist in developing and deploying SPC initiatives

• Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer, as required

• Lead and execute customer quality program requirements

• Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization

 

Job Responsibilities Part II

• Attend appropriate customer, business, or program meetings

• Develop and generate statistical reports on inspection activities and results, new product or process testing results and recommend action as required

• Consider financial impacts of Software quality process controls and inspections
• Prepare Software quality engineering reports and recommendations

• Provide regular reporting of progress and status

• Completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience

• Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge

• Experience with Compilers, SW Build tools, C++, Java, Python, or Jenkins

• Experience with Quality Standards (ISO, AS9100D)

• Experience with Quality tools (Six Sigma tools, statistics)

• Experience with Omnify/Empower or other PLM Tools

• Experience with GitLab or other Software Version Control Tools, DOORS

• ASQ certification desired

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills

• Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action



Key Points:

 

Location-Bridgeton

Hybrid-Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday from home

Relocation offered for non-local candidates.

Need at least 2 years of experience.

Ideal candidate will be a Quality professional who is good with software.

Process based industrial engineer would be accepted.

The candidate needs to understand how to code.  They might be scripting (like coding).

Need to have embedded experience (no web developers).

The ideal candidate needs to like structure and wants to build things in an orderly manner.
