Systems Administrator – Skill Level 4

Duties Include: 
The System Administrator will provide technical support to NGA/STP’s POD and the Compressed Aeronautical Regional Charts (ARC) Digitized Raster Graphics (CADRG) Program as well as systems administration, software administration, domain administration, and system security for the Forward Based GEOINT – Geospatial Services/Computer to Plate (FBG-GS/CTP) product generation system.

(Frequency of below-listed tasks: daily occurrence unless otherwise noted):
  • Perform full system upgrades and repairs (Linux and Windows) (frequency: monthly).
  • Troubleshoot and repair operating system (OS) and hardware issues (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Perform daily and weekly system backups and recovery.
  • Maintain a log of system problems, errors, failures, and downtime metrics.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory lists.
  • Troubleshoot network issues (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Install software releases and upgrades on Linux and Windows (frequency: monthly).
  • Troubleshoot and repair all software issues (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Train customer on proper usage of software (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Set up, test, and maintain Twist software, workflows, and hardware.
  • Set up, test, and maintain Litho workstations software and hardware (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Set up and maintain samba mounts for Windows (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Manage all software licensing information (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Evaluate and install security patches (IAVAs) (frequency: weekly as needed).
  • Create and ensure operation of Active Directory and DNS (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Administer the POD and CADRG database.
  • Create accounts and set up user specific access (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Ensure customer log on (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Maintain group policies and procedures (frequency: monthly).
  • Update/create tables, fields, relationships, and indexes (frequency: as needed).
  • Set up and ensure operation of mount scripts for Windows (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Acquire system accreditations (frequency: monthly).
  • Conduct audit and log reviews (frequency: weekly as needed).
  • Ensure personnel comply with system security policies (frequency: daily as needed).
  • Assist STP with planning cloud migration of the FBG production system.

Required Skills:
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases like Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Experience in designing, development, and testing of production ready reports.
  • Implementing logical and physical data modeling concepts.
  • Knowledge of the LINUX operating system.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) or cloud architecture.
